An established insurance company is looking to hire a strong candidate as the Head of Actuarial - Valuation and Reporting. A key goal of this role is to drive business performance in terms of Valuations, Experience Analysis and Analytics. Relevant experience and a solid track record are key to success in this role.



Key Responsibilities


Actuarial Management

  • Setting up tested models for valuation and ensuring effective reporting mechanisms
  • Setting up, monitoring and managing of actuarial controls
  • Experience monitoring and generation of insights from analytics
  • Actuarial risk management covering multiple risk areas
  • Manage special projects related to the valuation and reporting function


Leadership and General Management

  • A strong understanding of the local terrain, a knowledge of regulatory and tax environments, and how multiple, environmental factors affect the unit
  • A strong understanding of capital management, and the acumen necessary to make strategic decisions that positively impact the bottomline
  • Develop the capacity of the actuarial valuation and reporting team to deliver on relevant performance indicators
  • Collaboration with strategic partners


Qualifications and Competencies

  • A minimum of a first degree in Actuarial Science from a recognized local or international university. A Master's degree is preferable.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in a generalist or specialist actuarial role in a financial services environment
  • Full/Part/Ongoing Professional qualification in Actuarial Sciences is a key requirement
  • A strong, quantitative mindset and an ability to generate insights from data
  • Experience in using various tools of trade and an ability to transmit knowledge effectively to a team
