General Manager (Oil & Gas)

Our client in the Oil and Gas industry seeks to hire a General Manager, who will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the company’s long term strategy with a view to creating shareholder value.

Responsibilities

Planning

  • Collaborate with the board to define and articulate the company’s vision and develop strategies for achieving the vision
  • Create annual operations plans that supports the strategic directions set by the board
  • Develop and monitor strategies to ensure the long-term financial viability of the organization
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the company's plans and programs as a strategic partner
  • Develop future leadership within the organization

Management

  • Promote a culture that reflects the company’s values, encourages good performance and productivity
  • Oversee the operations of the company and manage its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Lead financial, personnel and operational initiatives to maximize growth and profitability of the company
  • Advance the company’s stability through proper risk management
  • Create and maintain procedures for implementing plans approved by the board of directors
  • Ensure that staff and board have sufficient and up-to-date information
  • Represent company and present company reports at board meetings

Financial Management

  • Oversee staff in developing annual budgets that support operation plans and submit budgets for board approval
  • Prudently manage the organization's resources within budget guidelines to safeguard revenue, profitability, and growth of the company
  • Provide prompt, thorough, and accurate information to keep the board appropriately informed of the organization’s financial position

Human Resource Management

  • Hire and manage the human resources of the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations of Ghana
  • Evaluate the organization’s and the staff performance on a regular basis
  • Responsible for employee development and training
  • Oversee HR policy development and documentation

Relationships

  • Ensure that the organization’s mission, vision, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to shareholders, government authorities, employees, the public and all stakeholders
  • Actively advocate for the organization, ensuring the integrity of all public disclosure while serving as the primary spokesperson and representative for the organization
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and the industry, building relationships with peer organizations and customers when appropriate

 

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. An MBA/Masters’ Degree is a plus
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in the downstream petroleum industry specifically Oil Marketing Companies (OMC)
  • Experience in strategic planning, excellent negotiation and deals execution skills
  • Experience in formulating policies, developing and implementing new strategies, procedures and operations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Ability to efficiently manage resources
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Must be willing to travel extensively across the country for work purposes.
